Description
Fertogard is an oral preparation containing of the substance Clomiphene Citrate. Fertogard are used to treat infertility in women.
Fertogard helps in reviving the normal function of the ovaries. It stimulates the egg to mature and to be released properly. It is a process called ovulation in the next stage the egg will require to be fertilized to form a new zygote.
Apart from that, this pill is also used to revive the regular menstrual cycle in women who have the problem of irregular ovulation as a result of taking oral contraceptives along with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
It is also used to increase (higher) sperm production in men with low sperm count with a lower dose of 25 mg and helps in overcoming men’s infertility problems.
Fertogard is a selective estrogen receptor modulator and binds to the estrogen receptor in the hypothalamus which is the control center of the brain. Fertogard prevents the adverse feedback action of estrogen.
The hypothalamus produces gonadotropins when estrogen levels are low. It again stimulates the release of FSH (stimulating follicle hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone) from the pituitary gland which is the hormone control center in the brain.
These are mostly needed for ovulation as it stimulates the growth and maturation of egg follicles in the ovaries. After the follicle is fully matured, it ruptures and releases the egg. This process is called ovulation.
In most cases, the best results are seen in women who suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome, a disorder which prevents women from ovulating every month, as well as other conditions which prevent women from ovulating. Once regular ovulation has been established, treatment includes proper timing of sexual intercourse and beginning each new course of Fertogard on the fifth day of the cycle.
Fertogard is used to treat or prevent the following medical conditions or diseases:
– Lactation Suppression
– Oligospermia
– Ovulation Induction
Together with allergy symptoms such as swelling of lips, tongue, or face or hives in some patients may appear the following conditions: ovarian enlargement presenting as abdominal or pelvic pain, flushing, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, blurred vision, headache, abnormal uterine bleeding.
