Description
Promifen is non-steroidal fertility medicine containing Clomiphene Citrate which stimulates the hormones required for the process of ovulation in women. Promifen has anti-estrogen properties and belongs to a class of medications known as selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM).
Promifen is prescribed as oral therapy for the treatment of infertility in women. Promifen work by stimulating the pituitary gland to increase the secretion levels of the hormones, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), required for the growth and release of a mature egg from the fallopian tube during the ovulation cycle. Promifen is useful for the induction of ovulation in women who have medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
You should use Promifen exactly as recommended by your doctor. Your doctor may suggest a dosage of Promifen depending on your medical requirement, body weight, other medical conditions, and current medications. Promifen should be taken once a day with a glass of water. You can choose to consume Promifen with or without food. Try to maintain a regular schedule for the medication such that you take Promifen at the same time every day, to get the maximum benefit of the medication. Your doctor may alter the dosage of Promifen and dosage period depending on your response to treatment.
The following side effects have been reported during the course of treatment with Promifen: Cardiovascular System: – flushing, rapid heart rate. Central Nervous System: – nausea, headache, irritability, dizziness, mental depression, nervousness, tiredness, insomnia, tension, vertigo. Eye and ENT: – blurred vision or other visual disturbances, increased sensitivity of eyes to light, decreased or double vision. Gastrointestinal System: – abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating. Genitourinary System: – ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), pelvic pain, ovarian enlargement, breast tenderness or discomfort, abnormal uterine bleeding, hot flashes, little or no urination, heavy vaginal bleeding, heavy or painful menstrual periods. Musculoskeletal System: – swelling of the hands or legs, abdominal swelling, tenderness, pressure, or swelling, yellow eyes or skin. Respiratory System: – breathing difficulties, painful breathing. Hypersensitivity: – allergic reactions such as difficulty breathing; closing of throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives. General: – shortness of breath, rapid weight gain.
